Update: Musicals 50th Anniversary

posted May 20, 2012, 6:57 PM by Eddie Woo
Greetings to everyone,

A reminder: an afternoon / evening of celebration to commemorate 50 School Musicals is scheduled for Saturday 9 June, 2012 in the JC Hoskin Auditorium. Please set aside this afternoon / evening aside to rekindle friendships and meet other generations of Rusians.

We invite present and past students and their parents to commemorate this auspicious milestone. The afternoon commences with a tour of the school at 3:00PM. This is followed with Music in the Quad featuring the School Band performing music from Les Miserables, Oklahoma, the overtures from Orpheus and Pinaforte. At 5:00PM, High Tea will be served in the Auditorium with the opportunity for you to meet past leads and casts as well as some staff who were instrumental in the musical. I am currently compiling a program featuring leads and casts from present and earlier musicals who have volunteered to perform a song or two.

The cost for high tea is $20 per adult and $10 per child to cover the costs of canapés. Please indicate your interest in attending High Tea by sending a cheque made payable to James Ruse Agricultural High School by 1st June to enable me to confirm the numbers to be catered. At present we have a very small number. When sending your cheques into school, please provide names of the people who will be attending (and the musicals they were involved) for name tags.

We invite past musical members to perform a song or two from a musical in which you were involved. I have organised 2 keen students with A Mus A (Piano) qualifications to accompany your performance.  We look forward to your performance(s).

We also need someone to record the event with a view of distributing it freely to participants. If you are able to assist in this matter, please
contact me.

Finally, thank you to those who have contributed towards the replacement of the stage curtains. We have made a start - approximately $500 has been received to date. Remember, contribution to the School Building Fund is tax deductible.

Please circulate the invitation to Rusians in your network. It would be fantastic to meet you all and put a face to a name. Should you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
