April 2008 - from the President

Well Ruseters, as we approach the end of yet another Term 1 I start to wonder about the desire to travel that seems to affect so many of our school friends.  Last weekend I attended a farewell for a school mate who is moving to Brisbane, and marvelled at how depleted our friendship group has become.  Some have gone to various parts of Asia, some to other states in the land down under, but by far the majority have moved to England, which I can’t for the life of me figure out.  Admittedly having never been there myself, I am content to blindly believe all the negative stereotypes of the mother country:  it’s always raining;  they don’t know how to cook a steak;  all Poms are drunken louts or drunken tarts;  and that their idea of Chinese food is little pieces of unidentifiable meat, battered, deep-fried, drowned in sweet and sour sauce and served with chips.  However, I must reluctantly acknowledge that the UK must have some charisma that lures people there indefinitely.

If you are overseas or are planning to move in the near future, please update your details with the union.  Remember:  it is the first point of contact regarding reunion planning and organisation. Next year we will be celebrating the 50th birthday of our school and any expressions of interest to help organise this momentous occasion should be addressed to Robin Legge.

Bye for now Ruseters, and continue to…

PURSUE EXCELLENCE!
