Please download the first edition of Gesta Non Verba for 2016
Thank you everyone who has contributed to helping our school and ex-student community grow closer in 2015. Please find the latest edition of GNV in the Gesta Non Verba 2015 folder (bottom of page)
On the 10th of November, former Ruse students who are veterans were invited back to witness the unveiling of a Veterans’ Honour Board. We were privileged to have many veterans return, including Repatriation Commission, Major General (Retired) Mark Kelly. The School Captain of 1964, Mr Peter Schultz and veteran of the Vietnam War, was inspirational in beginning this project and travelled from Queensland to be part of the ceremony. The JRAHS Cadet Unit demonstrated superior discipline and protocol in their parade which was inspected by Major General Kelly. The school was also honoured to receive a boxed Australian Flag and Commanders’ Coin from former student Rear Admiral Trevor Jones who is currently commander of Joint Task Force 633 in the Middle East. The Australian flag had flown over the ANZAC service in Baghdad earlier this year on April 25th 2015. I believe that connecting with our past, honouring our former students and commemorating the spirit of ANZAC is an important part of the spirit of James Ruse.
As part of the Centenary of ANZAC we have undertaken the project of searching for our veterans.
If you are a veteran please join us in the unveiling of our Honour Board on November 10th, 2015 at 9.45am. Our cadets will also parade.

Dear ex-James Rusians -
Those of you who attended James Ruse during the 1960's or 1970's may remember Colin Anderson who was an English teacher at the school and who collaborated with Leslie Lino in the initiation of the annual school musicals still held to this day. He was a towering figure in the school at the time but sadly he passed away on 8 July. I have included a copy of his Sydney Morning Herald notice below with details of his memorial service to be held in Newcastle on Tuesday.
I expect that a lot more about Col will appear on the James Ruse Union website and Gesta non Verba in due course, but I have sent this quick email now to warn out as many people as possible about his memorial service on Tuesday. Any inquiries re the service can be directed to the funeral directors.
